Titles appear and disappear !!

Image
Good morning and good evening! Titles are everything, especially in movies. It’s how you recognize one after all! When deciding what the title should be there are many things we can go with. It’s a movie about never having a free day with your friend and when you do it’s a zombie apocalypse! Er kinda they’re just zombies around. Kinda like during COVID when everyone had to stay inside. We haven’t talked to it much so far but I, personally, have just be calling it Zombie Vacation or Free Zombie Day. We mostly want to wait until we get more of it done before we do a title. Other titles are would include the workers in the beginning. We wanted those ones to contrast the background, which i wanted to be light so I’ve decided it should be black, or a light brown to look nicer. For the size, it will mostly just depend on the scene, where is the title going to be is going to determine the size of the title. Me and my teammate were deciding between 3 different fonts but ultimately chose Ca

But what other information is important ??

Me and my teammate both have open schedules most days, thank god it was the worst issue late time. That allows us to meet up easily. The only problems would be my group mate  has swimming practice or meets with her team and even on those days shes can most likely meet up. The only issue would be in February when my teammate has a swim meet out of the country (which wow, I forget people go out of country for sports). This is the only inconvenience on our schedule really during January and February. Although it will be an issue if me or my teammate get sick, this is not an issue due to the recordings being in separate locations most of the time and one of the scenes needs a sick, or well "sick," character. Meaning that I can record without them around just dandy and they can as well. There is only one true scene where me and my group mate need to met up, the ending scene. Which will likely be scheduled  halfway through recording.  If any issues do appear my teammate and I c

What will we say, what will we do ??

Script draft #1 (ruff sketch of what characters will say, actions and witty dialogue added later)    Location: Two different houses (workshopping where) *On Call* Lucia (Character A) Dialogue: We should meet up. Franky (Character B) Dialogue: How about Friday around 5.  Lucia Dialogue: That works for me let's do it.    Location: Outside a shop in the mall (likely Galleria) and in a car *In messages* Lucia text: I'm already here where are you? Franky text: You wouldn't believe why I'm not there if I told you. Lucia text: Try me. Franky text: We were on the road and a motorcycle raced by. But they must have not been paying attention because they switched right in front of a moving truck. The truck tried to not hit them and turned into the side of the street. Now it's turned over and we can't leave due to backed up traffic. Lucia text: You know what *sigh*. Let's just reschedule for Monday.   Location: Movie theater (near the Target one possibly) & House (a

What's common in the genre ?? Hunted Mansion 2023 edition !!

Image
Haunted Mansion  (2023) movie is probably the perfect inbetween I could find of horror and comedy, it was funny but got creepy at certain points. The movie starts with narration and many establishing shots of the setting of the movie, New Orleans. Most of the dialogue are shot in over the shoulder shots or shot reverse shots. The movies partial to long shots, medium close ups, two shots and three shots. Also there are tracking shots at some points to enhance the humor. Whenever we see out main character, Ben, we often see him at a slight low angle, to show his depression after losing his wife, getting lower then it gets worse. There are slight inserts of flashbacks, of Ben's past. Travis and Gabbie are both wearing clothing you'd expect is more 50's, while Ben's is more modern, Harriet wears things that can only be described as physic and "old-timey" whereas Father Kent wears a butchered priest-father outfit, and finally Bruce is a scientist and as such d

What's common in the genre ?? Scooby-Doo 2002 edition !!

Image
Yes Scooby-Doo (2002) is a horror movie! I'm shocked too! The other two are more horror then comedy so I wanted one of my research blogs to be a comedy focused horror. Scooby-doo uses lots of trackings shots, POV shots, has most of the shots at low angles, and whenever people are exchanging dialogue there is an over the shoulder shot used. You can hear ambient sound in any scene someones in, and there is ALWAYS non-diegetic sound in the background, music, laughing, clicking of a sound, anything. Scooby doo uses a lot of the expectations set with the cartoon movies, Velma's' glasses, Daphne being a damsel in distress and uses them all to deceive us. The costumes are very 2000s, or set in the period, but however everyone apart from the main 4 is very dull or pastel. Whereas the main 4, Velma, Daphne,  Fred and Shaggy are a lot more vibrant, a way to tell them apart from everyone else. Most of the movie takes place on "Spooky Island" with the ending happening at

What's common in the genre ?? Scream edition !!

Image
The movie Scream  is really self aware, so a lot of the "convections" it follows it says in the movies. It has medium close ups, extreme close ups, cross cutting and show reverse shots the most often. Of course a long shot when the killer is revealed. The shots are usually tracking shots of Ghost face (the killer) causing the angles to be either low angles or Dutch angles (with head tilts). Pan movements are also very common. Scream uses a lot of different shots at least one for scares. Dialogue is exchanged between every character in the movie, there was a motif for every time the Ghost face popped up, ambient sound is common during party and school scenes and there is very little non-diegetic sounds. Ghost face is in a whole black robe with a white mask, while every teenagers is in something appropriate for the late 90s. However, the main character, Sidney, is shown to wear a lot more covering stuff then her friend Tatum, as a reference to popular horror movie trope. T

The genre the group wants !!

Image
Good morning and good evening! Ultimately we've chosen to do comedy... and horror! Well comedy-horror and also campy, we want it to be fun! We want to laugh! It is also the genre me and my teammate believed we could have the most fun with. When discussing what we wanted to do the first day, we both agreed it should be funny and that we should have a good time with it. We also wanted to make it slightly creepy though, so we also made it horror because the pitch we choose we can do so much.  Zombies maybe? Vampires? You'll just have to wait to find out! Happy Birthday to whoever's Birthday it is and enjoy your days!

What is the thriller genre??

Image
Thriller defined by the internet: "fiction with numerous, often overlapping, subgenres, including crime, horror, and detective fiction."  Common camera: angles, movements, and shots:  Extreme close ups and close ups are the bread and butter of this genre, pans, establishing shots and long shots are also used very frequently. This is to show tension or suspense. Take advantage of high shots and POV shots to make it since as though someone's stalking the main character is also common place to enhance the viewer. Dutch angles are used to make the viewer uneasy OFTEN. Low level framing are used to show whos in power and whos powerless.  Common mise-en-scenes: There's a darker and grittier atmosphere. It's also often in more urban and rural settings, or a mansion, for all the rooms to play with. It takes advantage of dramatic lighting, like hiding someone in shadow and casting the other in complete light. Props often include guns or knives for a wow factor. Makeup is u

What is the comedy genre??

Image
Comedy defined by the internet: "'make 'em laugh' films designed to elicit laughter from the audience."  Common camera: angles, movements, and shots:  I'm going to be honest, you can do ANYTHING in the comedy genre if it fits a joke. Jumpcut for an ironic scene, Shot reverse shot for a facial expression, birds eye view for some spy joke. If you can make a joke out of it, you can use it.  Common mise-en-scenes: Comedies tend to have brighter settings and likely take place in more popular settings. Costumes, make up and props can often be exaggerated or completely out of place for a joke. Lighting is exaggerated for a joke unless it's a deadpan to let the audience laugh or be the punchline. Actor's often have to have natural charisma (it's the best for jokes lets be real) or have a gimmick to laugh at them for.  Common editing techniques: Like the common camera movements, if it's for a joke, you can use anything. Editing techniques are used a p

What is the drama genre??

Image
Drama genre defined by the internet: "A narrative fiction (or semi-fiction) intended to be more serious than humorous in tone" Common camera: angles, movements, and shots:       Common shots and angles used in drama movies are close up, used to emphasize; a long shot (sometimes referred to as a wide shot) shows the action or setting of a scene; birds eye view, used to imply meaning; over the shoulder to make the impact of a scene feel like a gut punch; medium shots to show intention and to emphasize body language and extreme close ups to add tension. My examples for what is shot/angle does it just the usual for what it is, it can also be used to do others things, these are like the... stereotypes.   Common mise-en-scenes:      Setting and atmosphere tend to be gritty, grey/cool and dark when it's a more serious movie, a lot more natural. When it's more camp (or over the top) it has a lot of brighter colors and it's vibrant. Dramas stick to the themes, clothing and

Our pitch to the class

Image
During my time away from school with a fever, me and my teammate came up with a much of pitches each online, however we choose two to present up here. These are these two:  1. Two friends keep trying to make plans but everything gets in the way      Me and my partner had an idea about two friends. Similar to us when our group did the music video. My group had trouble aligning schedules. So, it took very long for us to finally get the work going. This idea came off it because almost everything was getting in the way during that project. 2. A takes the sentence “taking candy from babies” literally but B keeps trying to stop them      Ok, let me put my card on the table. Me and my partner love candy, and we went with a candy theme. We combined  it with the literal fact of taking "candy from a baby" and it just...bounced off. Also, I thinks it's funny if someone stole candy from a child. Me and my partner also wanted foil characters that bounce off each other  with funny dial

But who am I collaborating with??

Good morning and good evening! When being told about the Final Task we got to work with people. Like last time I have decided to work with An Alysse McComie-Waterman, not the other people however. I trust An Alysse the best to not procrastinate and to hold the load of the work with me. This is because while I liked working with the others, it got really stressful when people waited until the very LAST minute to finish things. Heck sometimes I had to push for it to be finished. I swear I got a white hair or two on the last day of working. An Alysse is my friend, we've been friends since the beginning of the year. We also have AICE media studies at the same time so it makes the most sense to work with her. It makes it much easier to ask for things to be done, plan things out and work together. We both have similar taste in humor, shows and movies so it'll be really easy to get an idea for what we want to do. Or at least something we'll both have fun doing. We haven't

Good morning and good evening! Hello, I am Alexandra Soto, I am a artist, though I mostly focus on sketches and as such a have many different favorite artists of all different types. My favorite music artist are Ricky Montgomery, The Living Tombstone and Mitski. Although for the last two I only listens to patches of albums. My favorite physical artist (painter) however is Alexandre Cabanel, as my favorite artwork of his is his 'Birth of  Venus.' My favorite animals are Blue Jays, Sunbirds, Long Tailed Tit, and mountain Bluebirds. With all those colors you'd think my favorite color is blue, but its not, its Naples yellow and wine red. I just turned 16 3 days ago, on the named, sweater day or December 3rd. I have 3 siblings. two older, one younger, two sisters, one brother. I haven't seen my oldest sister and younger brother in a very long time. I actually haven't seen them in so long I have no idea HOW to spell their names. We are all hispanic so while my sister
